Rell Battle started in the industry as host of his own late night radio show on WJFK 106.7. After quitting the Journalism program and switching to Communications while studying theater at the University of Maryland, College Park, Rell moved to Los Angeles to pursue stand-up comedy. He was quickly chosen to perform as a “New Face” for the Jamie Foxx “Laffapalooza” festival. Since then, he has performed at comedy club venues throughout the country and overseas. and Currently hosts the Laugh Factory every Sunday night. In 2013 Rell shot pilots for MTV’s “Mad Money” and Spike’s “To Catch a Crook, as well as being chosen for FOX’s Diversity stand up showcase.”
In 2014 he was nominated as best actor for NBC’s short film fest. while also appearing on Adult Swim’s “Eric Andre Show,” season 3 of Comedy Central’s “Key and Peele” and as a stand up on Hulu’s “Coming to the Stage,” After appearing on Adam Devine’s “Houseparty, also on Comedy Central, he was fortunate to be chosen as one of Vultures top 50 comics to watch in 2015 list.
Rell is the creator and executive producer of “Roast Battle” an energetic live show that bears his name, currently in its second season on Comedy Central. The show was selected as the cover story for LA Weekly Fall 2014 issue and later LA Weekly’s Top 10 acts to watch. Rell and his show has been presented at the New York Comedy Festival, Riot LA Alternative Festival and South by Southwest. He knows co- starts on the CBS hit show Superior Donuts.
